SARASOTA—The Orioles are bringing back some of their most acclaimed players of the recent past to serve as guest coaches for spring training.

Zack Britton, J.J. Hardy, Adam Jones and Nick Markakis will each take a turn working with players at the Ed Smith Stadium complex.

It will be the first time that Britton, who converted all 47 of his save opportunities in 2016, and Markakis, who was elected to the Orioles’ Hall of Fame last year, have assisted in spring training.

Britton will join his brother Buck, who’s beginning his first season as major league coach for the Orioles after three seasons managing Triple-A Norfolk. Zack will be in camp from February 18th-20th.

Markakis, an all-time club leader in many offensive categories, will be in Sarasota between March 6th-10th.

Hardy, who has twice previously served as a guest instructor, will work with infielders from February 20th-26th.

Jones recently was named Special Adviser to the General Manager and Community Ambassador. He was in camp in 2024, and will be in Sarasota from February 24th-March 7th.

Longtime Orioles outfielders Al Bumbry (March 1st-5th) and John Shelby (March 6th-10th) also will be instructors.

Scott McGregor, a longtime guest instructor, will be in camp through February 22nd to work with pitchers, who reported with catchers on Wednesday.

Orioles broadcaster Ben McDonald (February 18th-22nd ) will again work with pitchers, and Brian Roberts (February 24th-28th) is will work with infielders.

Note: The Orioles will invest $21 million in a new player performance complex in Sarasota. It’s expected to open in 2026.
