OK, so we’re biased. Obviously. But we keep adding cool stuff to BaltimoreBaseball.com that we believe gives fans something a little different.
Here’s another – starting today – and we’re pretty psyched about it.
Every Wednesday during the baseball season, we now are offering a full-length podcast (roughly 30 minutes) about the Orioles’ minor leagues.
And this isn’t just two scruffy beatwriters talking baseball – like Dan’s “Around The Beat” podcast. This one is a professionally done show created and produced by Adam Pohl, the voice of the Bowie Baysox and a veteran minor-league, play-by-play broadcaster.
You’d be hard pressed to find a media member in this area with more institutional knowledge on the O’s minor-league system than Adam. But he also knows broadcasting.
And so what you are going to hear is an excellent mix of information and interviews each week. And Adam hits it out of the park in his first “Minor League Podcast with Adam Pohl” with an in-depth discussion with first baseman Trey Mancini, just before the organization’s top hitting prospect was promoted to Triple-A Norfolk.
Mancini, the 2015 Brooks Robinson Minor League Player of the Year Award winner, talks about what his hitting approach is and what it’s like to now be one of the minor leaguers in the spotlight. Adam also compares Mancini to a player he has covered in the past, and Mancini responds to that comparison.
Because it is a baseball podcast, we are contractually obligated to add a scruffy beatwriter discussion, so our own minor league writer, Dean Jones Jr., joins Adam each week to talk all levels of the Orioles’ system. Pretty cool.
Ok, enough chatter. Check it out. And tell us what you think.
