Orioles call up three players from Norfolk; no surprises

With rosters expanding during Thursday’s off day, the Orioles added three minor league players Friday for their series against the New York Yankees.

They’ve also officially welcomed two veterans to the roster after acquiring them Wednesday.

Lefty Jayson Aquino, right-hander Tyler Wilson and catcher Caleb Joseph, all of whom have been with the Orioles previously this season, are back. All three were on the 40-man roster.

And outfielders Drew Stubbs, claimed on waivers from the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, and Michael Bourn, acquired in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, also will be in uniform Friday.

Bourn will wear uniform No. 1, Drew Stubbs will wear No. 18 and Tommy Hunter has switched back to his more familiar No. 29.

The Orioles could make some more call-up later this week – perhaps from Double-A Bowie.

That’s the breaking news we have for you this early afternoon.

  • What can you tell us about the status of Lobstein? Has he cleared waivers or been claimed? Is there a time framer for any of these actions?

    Hoping we don't lose him.

    • When DFA'd, a team has 10 days to trade/waive/release a player. Normally he ends up being put on waivers. That's usually a 48-hour process once they are placed on waivers. I would think the Orioles would ask waivers fairly quickly on him. So I'd say we probably get a sense by this weekend, but Tuesday the latest. Just my guess though.
