There likely isn’t a player in the Orioles’ minor leagues who has raised his stock this season more than Ryan McKenna.
After batting just .256 last year with Single-A Delmarva, McKenna is quickly climbing the prospect ranks in 2018. He hit .377 with 8 homers in 67 games for High-A Frederick before being promoted to Double-A Bowie on June 21. And after a slow start with the Baysox, McKenna is surging in July, to the tune of a .317 batting average and .914 on-base-plus-slugging percentage so far this month.
Adam Pohl, the voice of the Baysox, sat down with McKenna to talk about his transition into professional baseball, role as a leadoff hitter, and upbringing playing baseball in Maine.
To close out our latest Minor League Podcast, Pohl runs down the rest of the O’s farm system with BaltimoreBaseball.com minor league reporter Dean Jones Jr.
