Since Mike Elias took over as the Orioles’ head of baseball operations eight months ago, he’s hired a new manager, Brandon Hyde, brought in Sig Mejdal to head up the analytics department, conducted an amateur draft and signed players in the international market.
Twelve of the players on the 40-man roster are new to the Orioles since Elias assumed his position, and the team’s record at the All-Star break is 27-62.
The July 31 trade deadline is coming in less than three weeks.
That’s an action-packed eight months, but is it enough to genuinely evaluate Elias’ tenure.
