Orioles hire Eve Rosenbaum as director of baseball development

The Orioles have hired Eve Rosenbaum to the newly created position of director of baseball development.

The news was reported by The Athletic and confirmed by an industry source.

Rosenbaum comes from the Houston Astros, where she worked with Executive Vice President/General Manager Mike Elias.

The Bethesda native, who attended Walt Whitman High School and graduated from Harvard in 2012, spent nearly five years with the Astros and had been Houston’s director of international scouting since August 2017.

Rosenbaum joins Sig Mejdal and Chris Holt, whom Elias brought with him from the Astros when he was hired a year ago. Mejdal oversees analytics as assistant general manager. Holt serves as the club’s director of pitching, another newly created position.

Rosenbaum will be the highest-ranking woman in the Orioles’ baseball operations department. Last year, Sarah Gelles, who headed up the Orioles’ analytics department before Elias’ arrival, left the team to join the Astros.

Before joining the Astros, the 29-year-old Rosenbaum worked for the NFL for nearly three years.

At Harvard, she played softball and had internships with Major League Baseball and the Boston Red Sox.
