SARASOTA, Florida-Trey Mancini, who has left the team to deal with a non-baseball related medical issue, tweeted his thanks to fans for their concern on Sunday.
Mancini tweeted: “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their kind sentiments and well wishes. It further drives home the fact that I am surrounded by the best family, friends/teammates, and fans that I could ever ask for.
“Once there is more clarity, I will be sure to keep everyone updated over the next few days. I look forward to a healthy recovery and being back on the field soon!”
After Saturday’s game, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde announced Mancini’s departure and asked that his privacy be respected. Before Sunday’s game, Alex Cobb and Chris Davis expressed their support and concern for Mancini.

My best goes out to Trey. When I heard Cobb say we're all "heartbroken" I was taken aback. What's going on here? MLBTRADERUMOR site had an article about this and all the comments had to be deleted and shut down. Read some of them. Childish, crude, uncalled for. What's going on with this world? Get well Trey.
A friend and I were discussing this at work today, and there really is only one medical issue that affects men, is potentially very serious, but can also potentially be cleared up with a quick operation that would have him ready to compete athletically within a few weeks. This would be testicular cancer. John Kruk was diagnosed in spring training 1994 and was playing in the second week of the season. I surely hope it's not as serious as that but it was all we could think of that fit the information available.
I met Trey 4 years ago in NEPA when he was with the Tides and he became my favorite player back then . He was so nice taking pictures signing autographs just being a nice guy. My prayers go out to him and his family. I saw an article where he spent a day with No Gabba, and just confirmed that there is no one better to represent the O's. Love ya buddy
