Orioles centerfielder Cedric Mullins played five innings and scored the American League’s fourth run as the AL beat the National League, 5-2, in the All-Star Game at Denver’s Coors Field on Tuesday night.
Mullins, who started at center in place of Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels who’s on the 60-day injured list because of a strained right calf, struck out in the third inning.
In the fifth, Mullins hit a ground ball up the middle that was bobbled by San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford. At first, it was scored a hit, because of Mullins’ speed, but then it was changed to an error.
Mullins scored on Boston’s Xander Bogaerts single, giving the AL a 4-0 lead.
The win was the eighth in a row for the American League.
Mullins caught a fly ball hit by San Diego’s Fernando Tatis Jr. in the third inning. He left the game after five innings.
He was also seen on camera during the “Stand Up for Cancer” public service announcement holding a sign supporting his Oriole teammate, colon cancer survivor Trey Mancini.
Mullins was the first Oriole to appear in an All-Star Game since Manny Machado, who also was hitless in two at-bats in his final game in an Oriole uniform in 2018.
Starting pitcher John Means was chosen an AL All-Star in 2019, but he didn’t appear.
No Oriole has had a hit since Jonathan Schoop doubled in the 2017 All-Star Game.

Schoop, there it is!
I thought that would be scored a hit. It was iffy and just kinda thought that the scorers would be in an easy going mood and not score an error unless he was forced. In a regular season game it would likely be an e, but I would need to see multiple angles of how close Mullins was to 1st. The angles on fox weren’t the best.
