The Orioles removed Chris Ellis from the 60-day injured list on Sunday and outrighted him to Triple-A Norfolk. They also outrighted catcher Aramis Garcia to Norfolk.
Ellis, who threw just 4 1/3 innings in two starts in 2022, had right shoulder surgery in May. He re-signed with the club as a minor league free agent in March as spring training began after pitching to a 2.49 earned-run average in six starts for the Orioles in 2021. He could be a useful depth piece as a spot starter or long reliever.
Garcia was one of three catchers added to the 40-man roster this month. He and Mark Kolozsvary were claimed on waivers from Cincinnati on October 14th. The Orioles also added Anthony Bemboom, who spent most of the season at Triple-A Norfolk.
The moves leave the Orioles with 39 players on their 40-man roster.
