The Orioles and right-hander Austin Voth have agreed to terms on a one-year contract, avoiding arbitration. The agreement includes a club option for 2024
Voth, who was 5-4 with a 3.04 earned-run average in 22 games with the Orioles after they acquired him off waivers from the Washington Nationals on June 7th, was seeking a $2 million salary. The Orioles countered with $1.7 million.
Voth will receive $1.85 million in 2023, with the 2024 team option at $2.45 million, plus incentives that could add $500,000, according to The Athletic. Voth made $875,000 in 2022.
He was the last of the six arbitration-eligible Orioles to agree on a contract. The Orioles reached agreement with outfielders Austin Hays, Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander, infielder Jorge Mateo and reliever Dillon Tate.
Executive vice president/general manager Mike Elias had a policy of not negotiating after the deadline for exchanging figures, but he added a second year or an option to a contract to avoid arbitration for the second consecutive year. In 2022, he added a $10 million mutual option to Trey Mancini’s contract and a $2.975 million contract for 2023 to wrap up negotiations with starting pitcher John Means.
