Orioles’ minor league managers return in 2023

As the Orioles prepare for the beginning of spring training, their minor league managers return for another season in 2023.

Buck Britton (Triple-A Norfolk), Kyle Moore (Double-A Bowie), Roberto Mercado (High-A Aberdeen), Felipe Alou Jr. (Single-A Demarva), Christian Frias (Florida Complex League), Chris Madera and Elbis Morel (Dominican Summer League) are back for a second season in their positions.

Justin Ramsey returns as Norfolk’s pitching coach as well as Upper-Level Pitching Coordinator. The other Tides coaches are Brink Ambler (hitting), who was Delmarva’s hitting coach in 2022, Ramón Sambo (fundamentals) and Joshua Rodrigues (development).

Forrest Herrmann, who was Aberdeen’s pitching coach in 2022, moves up to Bowie. Sherman Johnson, who played in 10 games for the Los Angeles Angels in 2018, is the Baysox’s new hitting coach. Tim DeJohn (fundamentals) and Ryan Goll (development) are the other Bowie coaches.

Austin Meine, who worked at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, is Aberdeen’s new pitching coach. Zach Cole (hitting), Chase Sebby (fundamentals) and Billy Facteau (fundamentals) are the other coaches.

Adam Bleday (pitching) and Josh Bunselmeyer (hitting) move up from the FCL to Delmarva. Daniel Fajardo (fundamentals) and Collin Murray (development) are the other coaches.

Jordie Henry and Andy Sadoski (pitching), Jaylen Ferguson and Christian Poulsen (hitting), Collin Woody and Troy Marrow (fundamentals), Isaiah Page (pitching development) and Teegan Leader (development are the other FCL coaches.

Dioni Pascual (pitching), Julian Gonzalez and Jake Ratz (hitting), Miguel Jabalera and Ramón Lubo (fundamentals) are the other Dominican Summer League coaches.

Jeff Kunkel (coordinator of instruction), Mitch Plassmeyer (minor league pitching coordinator) and longtime Orioles minor league coach Dave Schmidt (complex pitching and rehab coordinator return. Matt Packer, who was an FCL manager last year is complex coordinator of instruction and Anthony Villa has been promoted from lower-level hitting instructor to minor league hitting coordinator.
