The Orioles have selected the contract of infielder Jordan Westburg from Triple-A Norfolk. Westburg, who was the 30th overall selection in the 2020 draft, is MLB Pipeline’s fifth-rated Orioles prospect.
At Norfolk, Westburg was hitting .295 with 18 home runs and 54 RBIs with a .939 OPS. He played mostly shortstop and third base but did start six games at second base, five games in right field and one in left.
The Orioles optioned infielder Joey Ortiz to Norfolk. Ortiz hit .212 with four RBIs in 15 games.
To make room for Westburg on the 40-man roster, the Orioles outrighted catcher José Godoy to Norfolk.
