BALTIMORE–Oriole closer Félix Bautista left Friday’s game in the ninth inning with two outs and two strikes on the Colorado Rockies’ Michael Toglia. After the game, manager Brandon Hyde said Bautista was suffering from “arm discomfort” and was still being evaluated.
Danny Coulombe came into the game and threw a third strike to Toglia to preserve a 5-4 win and get the save.
Bautista, who had 33 saves, was on the verge of his 34th and had gotten the first two Colorado hitters out in the ninth. His 2022 season was shortened by arm fatigue and knee soreness.
The Orioles took a 5-4 lead over the Rockies on Gunnar Henderson’s two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth.
