Henderson, Hyde finalists for AL Rookie, Manager of the Year

Gunnar Henderson and Brandon Hyde are finalists for the American League Rookie of the Year and Manager of the Year.

Henderson, who has already won Rookie of the Year from The Sporting News and the Players Choice, is favored to win the award from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Boston first baseman Triston Casas and Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee are the other two finalists.

Splitting time between shortstop and third base, Henderson hit .255 with an .814 OPS, 28 home runs and 82 RBIs with a 6.3 WAR (Wins Above Replacement).

Hyde, who won The Sporting News’ award last month, joins 2021 winner Tampa Bay’s Kevin Cash and Texas’ Bruce Bochy, whose Rangers knocked the Orioles out of the playoffs and won the World Series.

Voting was conducted before the start of the postseason.

Rookie of the Year awards will be announced on November 13th and Manager of the Year awards on November 14th.
