For the second time in two days, the Orioles acquired an infielder and added him to their 40-man roster. On Thursday, the Orioles claimed Liván Soto off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels. On Wednesday night, they acquired utilityman Phil Maton from the Detroit Tigers.
Soto, a 23-year-old left-handed hitter, plays second, shortstop and third, and had a .375 average with a home run and nine RBIs in 22 games with the Angels in 2022 and 2023.
The Orioles’ 40-man roster is now full.
