Orioles’ Bautista undergoes procedure on elbow, timeline for 2025 return unaffected

Orioles star closer Félix Bautista, who had Tommy John surgery in October, had a right elbow rebridement and an ulnar nerve  transposition on Friday with Dr. Keith Meister in Dallas.

The procedure was to remove scar tissue in his elbow and to move his nerve to free it up from compression by some scar tissue in the area.

The Orioles don’t believe the additional procedure will affect his rehabilitation timeline, and he is expected to return for the 2025 season.

Bautista was 8-2 with a 1.48 earned-run average in 56 games with 33 saves and struck out 110 of the 237 batters faced before he injured the elbow on August 25th.

Even though he missed the final five weeks of the regular season, Bautista still  won the 2023 Mariano Rivera Award, given annually to the top relief pitcher in the American League.
