Orioles acquire right-hander Kaleb Ort

SARASOTA—The Orioles continue to make moves in an attempt to shore up their bullpen, acquiring their second reliever in as many days. On Monday, they acquired 32-year-old right-hander Kaleb Ort from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash considerations. On Sunday, they acquired left-handed pitcher Matt Krook off waivers from the New York Yankees

Ort was 2-4 with a 6.27 earned-run average and one save in 47 games with Boston the last three seasons. He’s been on the move in the offseason. On October 13th, he was claimed by Seattle on waivers off Boston’s roster. He was claimed by Miami on December 1st, and last Tuesday, he was claimed by Philadelphia.

Ort hasn’t had much success facing the Orioles. In seven games, he has allowed 11 runs, 10 earned, on 14 hits in seven innings, but did record his only career save on September 29th, 2022.

In order to make room for Ort on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated outfielder Peyton Burdick for assignment. Burdick was purchased from Miami last Wednesday.
