Orioles’ minor league roundup: Pérez throws an inning in rehab assignment for Norfolk; Trimble leaves Aberdeen’s game with hamstring discomfort

Orioles relief pitcher Cionel Pérez allowed a run on two hits in an inning in his first rehab assignment for Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday night. Pérez has been on the 15-day injured list with a strained right oblique muscle since March 31st.

Pérez threw 13 pitches, 10 strikes, in the seventh inning in Norfolk’s 4-3 loss to Gwinnett.

Bruce Zimmermann allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings, walking three and striking out two. Leftfielder Kyle Stowers hit his seventh home run and centerfielder Daniel Johnson hit his second.

The Tides were 7-2 with Jackson Holliday on the team, and they’re 2-12 since he joined the Orioles.


Alex Pham allowed three runs on three hits in five innings in Double-A Bowie’s 6-3 loss to Richmond. First baseman John Rhodes hit his second home run. Rightfielder Dylan Beavers had two hits, raising his average to .352.

High-A Aberdeen leftfielder Reed Trimble was removed from the IronBirds’ game with Jersey Shore with right hamstring discomfort.
