Orioles’ minor league roundup: Another strong performance by Cade Povich

Left-hander Cade Povich allowed one run on three hits in 4 2/3 innings in Triple-A Norfolk’s 2-1 loss to Gwinnett in 10 innings. Povich struck out seven and walked one, throwing 94 pitches. His earned-run average is 1.03.

Nick Vespi allowed one hit in 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Wandisson Charles (1-3) allowed the winning run.

The Tides, who have lost 13 of their last 15, were held to three hits. Rightfielder Connor Norby hit his sixth home run.

Utilityman Billy Cook was promoted to Norfolk from Double-A Bowie.

Six Bowie pitches held Richmond to two hits in the Baysox’s 9-0 win. Ryan Long allowed two hits in four shutout innings. Dan Hammer, Nick Richmond (13-0), Kade Strowd and Keagan Gillies combined for five hitless innings.

Right-hander Zach Peek was placed on the 7-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.

High-A Aberdeen was held to two hits in a 1-0 loss to Jersey Shore. The IronBirds placed outfielder Reed Trimble on the injured list.

Fredericksburg beat Single-A Delmarva, 2-0. Baltimore native Max Costes got two hits in his rehab assignment. The Shorebirds are 2-15.
