Orioles option Jackson Holliday to Norfolk

After going just 2-for-34 with 18 strikeouts in his first 10 games, the Orioles have optioned Jackson Holliday to Triple-A Norfolk.

The 20-year-old Holliday, who made his major league debut on April 10th, must stay in the minor leagues for 10 days before being recalled again unless he’s replacing an injured player on the roster.

Holliday had a single in his fourth game on April 14th, and one on Tuesday night, his most recent game. He walked twice in 36 plate appearances. He did not commit an error in 42 chances at second base.

To replace Holliday on the roster, the Orioles selected the contract of outfielder Ryan McKenna from Norfolk and designated catcher David Bañuelos for assignment.
