BALTIMORE—The Orioles are off to an excellent start in their four-game series with the New York Yankees. The Orioles (19-1o) lead the Yankees (19-12) for first place in the American League East.
Anthony Santander led off the second with a double against Nestor Cortes (1-3) and scored when New York second baseman Gleyber Torres threw wildly to third after he fielded Jordan Westburg’s grounder.
Austin Wells homered in the third against Kremer (2-2) to tie the score at 1-1.
The Orioles took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Jorge Mateo doubled and scored on James McCann’s double. Colton Cowser singled and McCann advanced to third and scored on Gunnar Henderson’s infield single. Adley Rutschman, who earlier extended his hitting streak to a career-high 11-games, scored Henderson with a single.

Oriole reliever Keegan Akin recorded two outs in the eighth but allowed a single to Anthony Volpe. Jacob Webb struck out Aaron Judge to end the inning.
