In a strong first month of the season for the Orioles, they received two of the four monthly awards. Shortstop Gunnar Henderson was named American League Player of the Month for March/April and outfielder Colton Cowser was named AL Rookie of the Month.
It’s the first time the Orioles have had Player and Rookie of the Month concurrently, and Henderson is the first Oriole voted Player of the Month since Manny Machado won in August 2017.
Henderson hit .291 with 10 home runs, 24 RBIs, 25 runs scored, six stolen bases and a .980 OPS.
On Monday, Henderson became the youngest player to hit 10 homers before May 1st, and had 11 multi-hit games.
Cowser, who was AL Player of the Week on April 15th, hit .303 with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and a 1.004 OPS. Henderson was the last Oriole Rookie of the Month in June 2023.
