Orioles outfielder Austin Hays homered for the second game in a row in Double-A Bowie’s 9-2 loss to Akron on Wednesday. Hays, who’s rehabbing his left calf muscle, was the Baysox’s designated hitter. He also doubled and was 2-for-4 and is 4-for-7 in his two rehab games.
Manager Brandon Hyde said he wasn’t sure if Hays could be activated for this weekend’s series with Arizona.
“He played today, and we’re reevaluating it every day,” Hyde said.
Ryan Long (0-2) allowed four runs on six hits in 1 2/3 innings.
Third baseman Anderson De Los Santos homered twice in Single-A Delmarva’s 9-2 win over Kannapolis. De Los Santos had four hits.
First baseman Aneudis Mordán and second baseman Angel Tejada also homered for the Shorebirds.
Four Delmarva pitchers limited Kannapolis to three hits. Starter Luis De León allowed one hit and struck out six in four scoreless innings. Alejandro Méndez pitched two spotless innings for the save.
