Orioles put Kremer on injured list with strained right triceps, send Heasley to Norfolk, recall Tate, Vespi

CHICAGO—The Orioles placed Dean Kremer, who was scheduled to start Saturday on the 15-day injured list with a strained right triceps. The move is retroactive to Tuesday.

Kremer is 3-4 with a 4.32 earned-run average in nine starts. He last started on Monday in St. Louis and allowed five runs on six hits in four innings.

They optioned Jonathan Heasley, who allowed four runs in the ninth inning in Thursday’s 8-6 win over the White Sox, to Triple-A Norfolk.

To replace Heasley and Kremer on the 26-man roster, the Orioles recalled right-hander Dillon Tate and left-hander Nick Vespi from Triple-A Norfolk.

Tate, who was optioned to Norfolk on April 29th, was 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA in 11 appearances with the Orioles. In seven appearances with Norfolk, Tate had a 3.86 ERA.

Vespi was the 27th man for Wednesday’s game and pitched a scoreless inning in St. Louis in his only appearance for the Orioles this season. He was 2-1 with a 3.22 ERA in 11 games with the Tides.
