NEW YORK-With infielder Jordan Westburg still experiencing left hip discomfort, the Orioles selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Nick Maton from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned outfielder Kyle Stowers to the Tides on Tuesday.
Since Westburg wasn’t placed on the injured list, Connor Norby couldn’t be recalled because he hadn’t been in the minor leagues for the required 10 days after he was optioned to Norfolk on June 11th.
New York’s Juan Soto collided with Westburg in the first inning of Monday night’s game, which the Yankees won, 4-2. Without Westburg available, Maton got the call. He has played three seasons with Philadelphia and Detroit and this year is hitting .294 with seven home runs and 28 RBIs for Norfolk.
Stowers is hitting .286 with a home run and nine RBIs in 17 games for the Orioles.

In order to make room on the 40-man roster for Maton, right-hander Tyler Wells, who had right elbow surgery on Monday, was moved to the 60-day injured list.
