The Orioles are expected to recall outfielder/designated hitter Heston Kjerstad from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, according to a report by the Baltimore Banner.
It will be the 25-year-old Kjerstad’s third stint with the Orioles. He went 2-for-14 (.143) in seven games earlier this season, and hit .233 with two home runs and three RBIs in 13 games late last season.
Kjerstad, who was hit by pitches three times in the first three innings of Norfolk’s 7-6 loss to Lehigh Valley on Sunday, is batting .300 with 16 home runs and 58 RBIs and a .998 OPS for the Tides this season.
On Wednesday, the Orioles purchased the contract of infielder/outfielder Nick Maton after infielder Jordan Westburg injured his left hip in a collision with New York’s Juan Soto. They optioned Kyle Stowers, another left-handed hitting outfielder, to Norfolk.
Kjerstad is the fourth-highest rated Oriole prospect by MLB Pipeline and the 21st overall.
