Bowie’s Samuel Basallo to represent Orioles in Futures Game

Double-A Bowie catcher/first baseman Samuel Basallo will represent the Orioles in the July 13th Futures Game in Arlington, Texas.

Basallo, the 12th-rated prospect by MLB Pipeline who will turn 20 on August 13th, is hitting .278 with a .794 OPS, 11 home runs and 34 RBIs.

Basallo has started 26 games at catcher, 18 at first base and 20 at designated hitter.

The Futures Game will be played at 4:10 p.m. on July 13th at Globe Life Park and seen on MLB Network. Play-by-play will be handled by Orioles broadcaster Melanie Newman
