BALTIMORE—The Orioles now have five All-Stars. Major League Baseball announced that outfielder Anthony Santander will replace Houston’s Kyle Tucker in Tuesday’s game at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.
Santander joins shortstop Gunnar Henderson, catcher Adley Rutschman, starting pitcher Corbin Burnes and third baseman Jordan Westburg, who was named as a replacement for Boston’s Rafael Devers on Tuesday.
Burnes said on Wednesday night that he’s unsure he’ll participate because his wife had twin baby girls on June 28th.
Santander, who hit 13 home runs in June, is hitting .233 with 23 home runs and 57 RBIs and a .790 OPS.
It’s the first time since 2016 that the Orioles have five All-Stars. Brad Brach, Zack Britton, Manny Machado, Mark Trumbo and Matt Wieters were on the American League team then.
