ARLINGTON, Texas–The Orioles activated outfielder Heston Kjerstad from the 7-day concussion list and optioned outfielder Kyle Stowers to Triple-A Norfolk before Saturday’s game against the Texas Rangers.
Kjerstad was hit on his batting helmet by New York Yankees reliever Clay Holmes on July 12th, sparking a benches-clearing incident, and was placed on the injured list the next day after first being listed in the starting lineup and then scratched when he didn’t feel well in pregame activities.
Stowers was recalled on Saturday and singled in the ninth inning of the Orioles’ wild July 14th 6-5 win over the New York Yankees in his only at-bat in the three games he was with the Orioles. His hit started an improbable rally that ended a five-game losing streak.
Kjerstad is hitting .312 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 21 games. Stowers is hitting .309 with a home run and nine RBIs in 19 games.
