BALTIMORE—In moves made just before the 6 p.m. trade deadline on Tuesday, the Orioles acquired left-handed reliever Gregory Soto from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Double-A Bowie right-hander Seth Johnson and High-A Aberdeen right-hander Moisés Chace.

They also acquired outfielder Austin Slater and infielder Livan Soto from Cincinnati for cash considerations or a player to be named later.

Soto was 2-4 with a 4.08 ERA and two saves in 43 games for Philadelphia this season. He has a 4.23 ERA and 55 saves in six seasons with the Phillies and Detroit.

Johnson, who was 0-6 with a 2.63 ERA in 18 starts with the Baysox, was acquired by the Orioles from Tampa Bay in the three-way trade that sent Trey Mancini to Houston in August 2022.

Johnson had Tommy John surgery shortly after the Orioles acquired him.

The 21 year-old Chace was 2-2 with a 3.46 ERA and a save in 17 games for the IronBirds this season.

The 31-year-old Slater hit .185 with a home run and 12 RBIs in 51 games with the Reds and San Francisco this season. Soto, who was with the Orioles during spring training, was hitless in three at-bats with Cincinnati.

Note: The Orioles recalled catcher Blake Hunt from Triple-A Norfolk and designated left-handed pitcher Cole Irvin for assignment.
