Question: Do you see the Orioles making any changes or moves before the September 1st deadline? From: Paul

Answer: Paul, the Orioles picked up an outfielder, Forrest Wall, who was sent to Norfolk on Wednesday, and I think it’s likely that they’ll make additional moves before Sunday. Players acquired from other organizations before September 1st are eligible to be included on postseason rosters.

Question: Can you give us a refresher on the September 1 roster expansion rules?  Someday I’ll manage to commit them to memory like I did with the old rules. From: William White, Midlothian, Virginia

Answer: William, all major league teams must add two players to their roster on September 1st. The Orioles can add one additional pitcher and one additional player to their roster, which expands from 26 to 28. In the postseason, the rosters revert to 26.

In the past, teams carried 25 players until September 1st when they could expand their rosters to 40. Now, it’s 26 from Opening Day until September 1st when they must add two players.
