Orioles to recall Coby Mayo on Sunday.

The Orioles are calling up third baseman Coby Mayo for Sunday’s game in Colorado. Mayo, who 1-for-17 in his first stint for the Orioles earlier this month, will be one of the two players added on Sunday.

Zach Eflin, who’s expected to come off the 15-day injured list to start Sunday’s game against the Rockies, will likely be the other.

Major league teams are required to add two players to the roster on September 1^st.

Mayo, who was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk for the first time on August 2^nd, was hitless in his first 16 at-bats before singling on August 15^th. He was optioned to Norfolk the next day.

The 22-year-old, who was the Orioles’ fourth-round draft pick in 2020, hit .293 with 22 home runs and 67 RBIs and a .943 OPS with Norfolk. He’s now the Orioles’ top-rated minor league prospect.
