Albert Belle signed a five-year, $65 million contract with the Orioles in late 1998, but was able to play only two seasons. A polarizing figure, who had issues with the media, Belle hit 37 home runs and drove in 113 runs in 1999 with a .297 average and a .941 OPS. After playing the 2000 season, he couldn’t play again due to a hip injury.
