Henderson is hitting .283 with a .9064 OPS. His 37 home runs are the most by an Orioles shortstop. He’s driven in 87 runs while hitting leadoff much of the season. He’s stolen 21 bases and been caught just three times.

His WAR (Wins Above Replacement) of 8.7 is third in the American League.

Others receiving votes were Corbin Burnes, Colton Cowser, Adley Rutschman, Anthony Santander, Albert Suárez and Jordan Westburg.

Henderson is the 14th Oriole to win consecutive awards. He’ll be presented with the award before Saturday afternoon’s game against the Detroit Tigers.

Peter Schmuck and I voted for Henderson, Santander and Burnes.
