Orioles add Chirinos, Britton to coaching staff
The Orioles completed their 2025 coaching staff by bringing back a former player and adding a longtime minor league manager.
Robinson Chirinos, who concluded his 11-season major league career with the Orioles in 2022, returns to the team as its bench coach. Chirinos, who turned 40 this year, played for six major league teams, including seven seasons with the Texas Rangers.
In 67 games, Chirinos hit .179 with four home runs and 22 RBIs for the Orioles and served as a mentor to Adley Rutschman during his first season in the big leagues.
Buck Britton, who spent the past three seasons as Triple-A Norfolk’s manager, will be the major league coach. Britton, who’s 38, played seven seasons in the Orioles’ organization and has coached or managed since 2017.

Britton also managed Single-A Delmarva for a year after serving as the Shorebirds’ hitting coach and was Double-A Bowie’s manager for three seasons.
Chirinos and Britton replace Fredi González and José Hernández.
The Orioles made official the promotion of Cody Asche as hitting coach and the addition of Tommy Joseph as assistant hitting coach and Sherman Johnson as the assistant hitting coach/upper-level hitting coordinator.
Asche spent the -ast two seasons as the team’s offensive strategy coach. Joseph was assistant hitting coach for Seattle last season and Johnson, who was Norfolk’s hitting coach in 2023, was upper-level hitting coordinator last season.
The rest of manager Brandon Hyde’s coaching staff returns. Grant Anders, major league development coach, second season; Tim Cossins, major league field coordinator/catching instructor, seventh season; Drew French, pitching coach, 2nd; Ryan Klimek, pitching strategy coach, 3rd; Tony Mansolino, third base coach, 5th; Mitch Plassmeyer, assistant pitching coach, 2nd; and Anthony Sanders, first base coach, 6th.
