SARASOTA–The Orioles’ scheduled game against the Atlanta Braves on Monday was canceled because of rain. The announcement came about three hours before the rescheduled 4:05 p.m. start.
The game was originally scheduled to be played at 1:05 p.m., but because of an unfavorable forecast, the Orioles announced a change to the time at about 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Earlier on Monday, the sun was shining, but rain began falling around 12. The game will not be made up. Fans with tickets purchased at the Ed Smith Stadium box office or Orioles.com may exchange their tickets for any of the remaining 14 home games. Fans who have not exchanged for another game by March 21st will ,receive a refund to their original form of payment.
Charlie Morton will start Tuesday’s game against Detroit. Dean Kremer, who was supposed to start Monday’s game, also will pitch.
