Clark, Delgado and Nixon pitch their way to this week’s ‘Prep Ballplayer’ vote

It was another strong week across the region for high school baseball..

Pitching stood out, especially from our three candidates. Each threw a complete-game and mowed down a plethora of hitters.

Two also had big days at the plate.

Cameron Clark, Sr., INF/RHP, Severna Park

Clark, who is making his second appearance in our ‘Prep Ballplayer’ vote, started the week with a solo home run against Meade in a five-inning, 14-3 victory. On Thursday, the right-hander pitched a complete game against Broadneck, striking out 11 batters and allowing six hits. The next day, he had three hits – including a double – and one RBI in the team’s 6-2 loss against Arundel.

Gabe Delgado, Jr., RHP, Howard

The right-hander dominated Thursday against Centennial. In a complete-game, five-inning outing, Delgado allowed an unearned run on two hits while striking out 12. Howard came away with the 15-1 victory.

Paul Nixon, Sr., INF/RHP, Archbishop Curley

Nixon was consistently good last week. On Monday against St. Paul’s, the senior recorded a single and a double and knocked in four runs. He also scored a run and drew a walk in the team’s 13-2 win. Nixon started on the mound Thursday against Archbishop Spalding. In the 6-4 victory, the right-hander pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on three hits while fanning nine.. At the plate, he added an RBI. Nixon wrapped up the week Saturday against Gilman with a three-run home run in Curley’s 4-3 win.
