Oliver Drake, Los Angeles Angels
Drake spent the first 10 years of his professional career in the Orioles’ organization, but now lives the life of a journeyman. In the last two years, he’s bounced between four different teams.
He started 2018 with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he posted a 6.39 ERA in 11 games before he was designated for assignment May 2 (coincidentally, he was DFA’d to make room for the aforementioned Miley, his ex-Orioles’ teammate). The Cleveland Indians acquired him for cash May 5, but he lasted just four games there, giving up six runs in 4 1/3 innings.
Drake was on the move again May 31 when the Angels claimed him on waivers. He’s bounced between the majors and minors since, making seven appearances for the Angels and struggling to a 6.75 ERA. The damage probably should be much worse when you consider that he’s given up 15 hits in 6 2/3 innings.
