Ex-Oriole report: Looking at the departed 2017 Orioles at the midway point

Edwin Jackson, Oakland Athletics

Last year, when Jackson joined the Orioles for an abbreviated three-game stint, I wrote about his journey to tie the MLB record for most teams played for (held, at the time, by Octavio Dotel, who played for 13 different teams). The Orioles’ were Jackson’s 12th employer.

Well, Jackson has now cracked the history books. After the Nationals released him from their minors June 1, he signed with the Oakland Athletics and made it onto their roster June 25. With that, Jackson tied Dotel’s record by pitching for his 13th team. He’s made four starts for the Athletics, going 1-1 with a 2.59 ERA.

At only 34, Jackson could still have a few years left in his career — plenty of time for him to join a 14th team and shatter the major league record.
