Teams across the Baltimore area, and its surrounding counties, provided strong offensive and pitching performances last week.
And the three finalists below showcased the best of that.
Two of them were successful at the plate and on the mound, and the third was dominant at the plate.
This Week’s Finalists
Magnus Dunn, Jr., LHP, Mount Hebron
Dunn threw a gem Wednesday against Glenelg. The southpaw struck out 18 batters in 6 2/3 innings. He also had three hits in the Vikings’ 5-1 victory.
Matt Sowinski, Sr., RHP/INF, Annapolis Area Christian
Sowinski did it all for the Eagles on Friday versus Park. He drove in five runs with four hits, including a triple. The right-hander also dominated on the mound, striking out 14 in seven innings. Sowinski gave up three hits in the team’s 10-1 win.
Kyle Whitaker, Jr., INF, McDonogh
Whitaker showcased his power on Thursday against Archbishop Spalding. The junior hit three home runs (a solo shot, a three-run blast, and a grand slam) and a single, good for nine RBIs — almost two-thirds of McDonogh’s 15 total runs.
Others considered (listed alphabetically): Arderii Brown, Oakland Mills; Nick Gatton, Broadneck; Tyler Russo, Glenelg Country; Brendan Simonds, Severna Park; John Torroella, MSJ; Brandon Will.
